12/09/2017 - 13/09/2017
As part of the ‘EUP2P export control programme for arms-ATT’ (EUP2P-ATT), the Initial Visit of the Cambodia Roadmap took place in Phnom Penh on 12-13 September 2017. The Initial Visit marks the starting point of the cooperation with a partner country in the framework of the ATT-OP. This two-day meeting was an opportunity for all relevant stakeholders to meet and discuss their roles and responsibilities with regards to ATT implementation in Cambodia. At the same time, the ATT-OP Team introduced the project, and discussed potential areas of cooperation. The participants gained an overview of the status quo of arms transfer controls and ATT implementation in Cambodia through in-depth discussions of the various aspects, feeding into the tailoring the future Roadmap activities. The meeting established the pillars of the draft roadmap and identified support strategies, coordinating with the relevant agencies involved.
The ‘EUP2P export control programme for arms-ATT 2’ (EUP2P-ATT 2) – the continuation of the EUP2P export control programme for arms-ATT’ (EUP2P-ATT) also known as the EU ATT Outreach Project (ATT-OP) - provides assistance to non-EU countries in the period between August 2017 and August 2020 to contribute to the effective implementation of the ATT. The programme is co-financed by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany under Council Decision 2017/915/CFSP. The programme assists a number of non-EU countries, upon their request, in strengthening their arms transfer systems in line with the requirements of the Treaty and also engages in an effort to reach out to countries not yet party to the Treaty.
